Help keep this record right

Do you know Simcoe County’s councils — as a resident, a reporter, a former member, a clerk? The record for Ramara is read by software from the minutes and checked against their own totals, and it still needs people who can tell when a page is wrong. They measure different things and are not interchangeable. Moving a motion usually means sponsoring a staff report’s recommendation onto the floor. Seconding puts a motion up for debate and is often a seat convention rather than agreement. Meetings are counted against the ones each member was on the record for — not against the whole term, because members join and leave mid-term, so two members’ figures here are not comparable.

Individual positions exist for 0 of 2,201 motions — none of them — because Ontario law records names only when a member asks. Members ask on the most contentious items, so that is a deliberately skewed sample and says nothing about the rest.
