THAT to enable the Doctors to apply for a Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (NRRRI) Grant, the Mayor be authorized to provide a letter confirming as follows:  Ramara Township does not have a community hospital;  The Township strongly supports allowing these physicians to dedicate their full workweek to primary care rather than being required to work part-time at a hospital outside the region;  Requiring hospital work would result in reduced clinic hours, meaning less access to care for Ramara residents, which defeats the purpose of bringing the U.K. physicians to Ramara in the first place; AND THAT the Mayor be authorized to provide a letter in support of Dr. Sheth’s application for a three-physician Family Health Organization (FHO), as opposed to the standard six-physician minimum. The letter will include that:  Ramara has extremely limited access to primary care, aside from the virtual “Good Doctors” clinic, for which Ramara taxpayers currently pay approximately $120,000 annually;  In-person access to a family doctor is critical to primary care and virtual care should support, not replace, in-person practices;  A Fee-For-Service (FFS) model is unsustainable for long-term physician retention. Ayes: Basil Clarke, Keith Bell, David Snutch, Jennifer Fisher, Dana Tuju, Joe Gough, and Sherri Bell
